A number of particularities that characterize the Neotropics -the
biogeographic region ranging from central and southern Mexico to southern
South America and adjacent islands- are relevant to understanding the
diversity and evolution of human-animal interactions through time, as
well as the properties of the resulting archaeofaunal record.
The mission of the newly formed Neotropical Zooarchaeology Working
Group (NZWG) is to offer a forum where people can meet from any country
interested in these research problems.
The first meeting of the Working Group will be held at the next ICAZ
Conference in Paris, on Friday, 27 August, 17:30 - 18:30 hs, in Jussieu,
amphi 45B.
All interested researchers are invited to participate and/or to join the NZWG!
Please contact any of the NZWG Coordinators for more information: Isabel
