Warmest congratulations to the shortlisted authors of this year's Sociology of Health and Illness Book Prize! We are pleased to announce that - of 19 nominated books - the judging panel have released their shortlist:
· Chamberlain, John M. - Doctoring Medical Governance: Medical Self-Regulation in Transition (Nova Publishers, 2009). Nominated by Jason L Powell, University of Liverpool.
· Mol, Annemarie - The Logic of Care: Health and the Problem of Patient Choice (Routledge - Taylor & Francis Group, 2008). Nominated by Dr Sara MacBride-Stewart, Cardiff University.
· Rosengarten, Marsha - HIV Interventions: Biomedicine and the Traffic Between Information and Flesh (University of Washington Press, 2009). Nominated by Professor Vikki Bell, Goldsmiths, University of London.
A prize of £1,000 is awarded annually to the author(s) or editor(s) of the book making the most significant contribution to medical sociology/sociology of health and illness and having been published over the three years preceding 1st January of the year in which the award is made.
The prize winner will be announced at the British Sociological Association Medical Sociology Group Annual Conference, which will be held at Durham University, Wednesday 1st - Friday 3rd September 2010.
