A research report and list were produced by Laser funded by Cilip and the
Humanities funding(?) ( and I think BL may have been involved), it also
indicated if the collections were at risk.Only such publication I believe.
I don't think it was kept up, but Clip should have copies and know the
status.

Subject: FW: Directory of special collections held in public libraries in UK
I think you are referring to this book:
http://voyager.aber.ac.uk/vwebv/holdingsInfo?searchId=248&recCount=10&recPointer=0&bibId=190780
I remember using it for my research some 6-7 years ago! It covers the whole
of the UK and is specifically about rare or special collections. I can't
recall if it also covered the divisions of fiction and NF that public
libraries divided up among themselves as I wasn't looking into that.
It appears to have been published by the LA so I wonder if your colleagues
would be best placed to provide info on any update.

Subject: Directory of special collections held in public libraries in UK
I've just had an enquiry about a directory that used to be produced that
listed subject collections in public libraries around the UK.
The enquirier and I both remember using it back in the 80s although I
thought it only covered London libraries and he thought it was the whole of
the UK. Can anyone remember what it was called? I have come across this
link http://www.londonlibraries.org/servlets/libraries/collections but
wondered if anything was still held for the whole of the UK. I have a
feeling that particular public libraries stocking a particular subject area
stopped quite a while ago, but again if anyone can enlighten me I would
appreciate it.
Many thanks
