Dear colleagues,
For those of you who are interested in developments in data publication
and the NSF's increasing requirements for data dissemination plans...
We're seeking feedback on a new feature in Open Context. We recently
enabled an "online estimation" tool, which generates a quote for the
cost of publishing and archiving your project data. You can access it
here: http://opencontext.org/about/estimate
If you feel like taking a few minutes to play around with the estimator,
please do so and let me know what you think. There is no obligation to
follow up on your estimate! When you go through the steps and hit
"submit" you'll arrive at a screen that will give you your project's
estimate. It will also give you some text about archiving and data
dissemination that we hope will be useful for NSF "Data Access Plans"
and similar sections on other grant applications. We hope that this
guidance and service will help improve the quality and competitiveness
of the data access plans in your proposals.
We'd like to know if this is useful and if there's any part of the form
that is confusing or unclear.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Sarah
PS This estimation tool is for future projects. If you have data you'd
like to publish right away, Open Context can still offer free data
publication (as part of a current grant) through the end of this year.
