Graduate Training Assistantship (4 year funded full-time studentship)
School of Computing, Edinburgh Napier University, Edinburgh, UK.
Applications are invited for a Graduate Training Assistantship (GTA)
in the area of Digital Media and Interaction Design (Ref: GTA/2010/1)
with a closing date of 16 June 2010. We are keen to attract applicants
with expertise in digital media creation, specifically any combination
of skills in digital video, digital audio, digital imaging and 2D & 3D
animation. At least two of these are essential.
The GTA award will cover tuition fees to Home/EU level and will
provide a living allowance (stipend), currently £14,911 per annum.
Overseas students are eligible to apply, but will be liable to pay the
difference between home/EU fees and overseas fees. Note that the fees
are subject to change annually throughout the programme of study.
The GTAs are expected to start in October 2010.
The GTAs will register as fulltime research students at the
University. At the same time as studying for a PhD, GTA holders will
be required to complete the PG Certificate in Teaching and Learning in
Higher Education. GTA holders will be required to carry out teaching
and the amount of this will increase throughout the duration of the
award. This is an exciting opportunity to study for a PhD at the same
time as gaining a formal qualification that will serve as the basis
for a career in Higher Education.
Applicants should hold a First Class or Upper Second Class Honours, or
Masters, degree in a discipline relevant to the area of study.
Applicants should submit a clear proposal for their research programme
(no more than 500 words) that demonstrates an understanding of the
background to the area and outlines the questions that the applicant
is interested in researching. Candidates whose first language is not
English must meet the University’s English language requirements.
