Take a look at *Parables for the Virtual: Movement, Affect, Sensation* (Duke
University Press 2002) by Brian Massumi. There a section concerning the
manner in which philosophical practices can liberate concepts from other
fields, which might be useful to you. His thought here is (in part)
Deleuzian in its lineage. It's been a while, but my remembrance is that he
sets down some parameters within which we can validate what is acceptable
practice in this regard - one which has respect for the source context from
which concepts are liberated.
Cheers,
Adam
