medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

>...what appears to be an intriguing liturgical artefact, ....shaped like a
small bread shovel, about a foot long, but with a cross in circle device at
the end of the handle. They wonder whether it could have been used for
distributing the holy loaf, but it looks a bit small for that. And probably
too plain to be a pax.
i know not what a "bread shovel" might be (flat, with a long handle, for
extracting bread from the oven?), but thought we might be lucky and that there
might be a representation of such an artifact in the "Apostles" window at
Chartres, which was given by the bakers' guild, showing them plying their
craft in three panels at the bottom of the lancet:

(note the miraculous face which appears on the dough in the trough)

but, i don't see anything of that description.
in the last panel the prepared dough is being readied for placement in the
oven, but we don't have an actual baking scene.

sure, i wouldn't mind having a look at it.
