Apologies for cross-posting.
CILIP is offering grants to attend the IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Gothenburg, Sweden, 10th to 15th August 2010.
This year the theme is ‘Open access to knowledge: promoting sustainable progress’.
With up to 5,000 delegates and a vast range of sessions, meetings, workshops, visits and social events, WLIC is the largest and arguably the most important single international LIS event.
There are two kinds of award:
• First-timer awards – to cover the total costs of attending the conference. There are only two conditions: current CILIP membership, and never having attended an IFLA conference (other than in the UK) previously.
• Partial awards – a lump sum towards the costs of attendance. These awards are available to CILIP members and are primarily for IFLA’s ‘activists’: preference will be given to those nominated by CILIP to IFLA bodies, IFLA officers, members of sections and other committees, those invited to give papers and those involved with discussion groups – in that order.
The conference should provide invaluable CPD experience from a range of global perspectives and enable building of networks with overseas colleagues and direct involvement in the work of IFLA.
The number of awards is strictly limited.
Details are available on the CILIP website at:

The closing date for both awards is 20th April. If you have any queries, or would like a hard-copy application form, contact Angela Frampton (020 7255 0616; [log in to unmask])
