I would welcome suggestions about the ID of a fragment of long bone. It was found among disturbed and redistributed Aboriginal shell midden material in coastal New South Wales, Australia.

The scale at the base is in centimetres.
The fragment has two attributes that make me think it is not human:
1. It has a longitudinal groove along its long axis. This groove is definitely part of the original anatomy of the bone.
2. The cortical bone is not dense enough.
This lack of density would also seem to rule out other possible species such as macropods or intrusive sheep bone.
I wondered about seal, or some other marine mammal. However France's DVD with seal bones does not encourage me to think it is seal.
