medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I don't think there is a village of "St Ive" - the Cambridgeshire
(Huntingdonshire) one is St Ives, as is the Dorset (Hampshire?) one, and
the one in West Yorkshire...

I treat apostrophes as coming and going over the centuries and use the OS if I want to establish a modern standard for any one place - never making a grammatically-based assumption about what that standard should be; this is standard practise for editors/proofreaders. In this case, St Neots (no apostrophe) is the town near Cambridge, St Neot (no s), is the village in Cornwall. And, for example, the Cornish town of St Ives has no apostrophe... not to be confused with the village of St Ive...

I am trying to find out which of the associated donor figures were still alive when the glass was inserted (c.1500 to c.1515). Perhaps someone could put me in touch with Jo Mattingly (I used to have her email, but have temporarily mislaid it).********************************************************************** To join the list, send the message: join medieval-religion YOUR NAME to: [log in to unmask] To send a message to the list, address it to: [log in to unmask] To leave the list, send the message: leave medieval-religion to: [log in to unmask] In order to report problems or to contact the list's owners, write to: [log in to unmask] For further information, visit our web site: http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/medieval-religion.html
