Hi Chrissy,
I checked on PubMed Clinical Queries (using the Therapy Filter) and got
405 hits for "infection control".
The first page included RCTs such as:
'Bare below the elbows' and quality of hand washing: a randomised
comparison study.
Farrington RM, Rabindran J, Crocker G, Ali R, Pollard N, Dalton HR.
J Hosp Infect. 2010 Jan;74(1):86-8. Epub 2009 Nov 20, and
Skin care in the NICU patient: effects of wipes versus cloth and water
on stratum corneum integrity.
Visscher M, Odio M, Taylor T, White T, Sargent S, Sluder L, Smith L,
Flower T, Mason B, Rider M, Huebner A, Bondurant P.
Neonatology. 2009;96(4):226-34.
Comparison of the efficacy of a hydrogen peroxide dry-mist disinfection
system and sodium hypochlorite solution for eradication of Clostridium
difficile spores.
Barbut F, Menuet D, Verachten M, Girou E.
Infect Control Hosp Epidemiol. 2009 Jun;30(6):507-14.
It would be neat to see a summary and synthesis of those first before
designing new research,
Best wishes
Paul Glasziou
