medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
If you check the Index of Christian Art, you find a few examples of Magdalene in the Ascension and Pentecost scenes, but the few are late, at least 13th century for the Ascension and later for the Pentecost. This could probably reflect a general trend within the broader collections of art. You are right, the first three are more common but the last two are rare - at least from what I have seen. Harriet.

I have never looked into this question and it is an important one.
On the issue of women, I happened to visit the Scrovegni Chapel in Padua in November. I noticed that Mary Magdalene was in all of the final scenes: the Crucifixion, the Deposition, the Resurrection, the Ascension, and Pentecost. I know the first three are very common in medieval art, but the last two? Is this already well known?

So have we actually got a gendered difference in age at resurrection in medieval thought - is there any other evidence for this - and what (other than the rather strange preference of some modern women for concealing their age and trying to act like teenagers) could account for it?

Yes, but, er, mature consideration has suggested that it might not be optimal for females...
In any case, the Pearl Maiden is described as "faunt", "girl", "damsel" and "maiden".
