Head and Professor School of Engineering Education
Purdue University is seeking a dynamic and innovative leader to serve
as Head of the School of Engineering Education (ENE). This academic
unit was the first School of its kind in the nation and ENE faculty
and staff are serving as international leaders in the establishment of
this new discipline. A visionary leader with demonstrated
collaborative skills and successful experience in the field of
engineering education is sought to further advance the School’s
programs and their impact through a commitment to excel in discovery,
learning and engagement. Applicants should have a commitment to
diversity and collaboration, superior communication skills, experience
in administration and faculty/staff/student relations, mentoring,
resource management, and alumni development.
The School of Engineering Education at Purdue (<https://engineering.purdue.edu/ENE
>) which focuses on a new and exciting intellectual direction and is
now in its fifth year, has undergone unprecedented growth. ENE is home
to a critical mass of internationally recognized faculty (21) who
pursue excellence in the education of all first-year engineering
students and conduct scholarly research on engineering epistemologies,
learning mechanisms and systems, engineering diversity and
inclusiveness, and engineering education assessment across P-12 to

>) ENE includes the nation’s first graduate program in engineering
education with 42 graduate students, three undergraduate programs:
First-Year Engineering (~2200 students), Interdisciplinary Engineering
Studies, as well as Multidisciplinary Engineering, and a university
recognized center: Institute for P-12 Engineering Research and
Learning (INSPIRE). ENE serves in a leadership role in education
throughout the College of Engineering. The ENE faculty, staff and
graduate students engage across the engineering disciplines to work
with faculty to advance engineering education as it relates to the
full range of engineering disciplines.
The College of Engineering at Purdue consists of over 7000
undergraduate students, nearly 2500 graduate students, and 365
faculty. Purdue is one of the nation’s leading land grant universities
with a full range of academic majors and an enrollment of over 40,000

Applicants must have a doctoral degree in engineering or related field
and must possess credentials that meet the qualifications for
appointment at the full professor level with tenure, based on a
substantial record of scholarly work and professional service.
Applicants should have a compelling vision of the future direction for
the engineering education discipline and managerial experience with
complex organizations.
