medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Stephen,
I tracked down the Corpus Christianorum Continuatio Medievalis editions
of Johannes Belleth & Durantis.
Beleth does not discuss the breaking of the host, sipping from Pater
noster to the Pax.
Durantis has a whole section (Bk. IV c. 51) De fractione hostie. See
CCCM vol. 141 pp. 525-529. He describes the raising up of the chalice
together with a fragment of the broken host, saying it represents the
Resurrection.
The editors list 151 complete copies of the Rationale with 49 partial
copies or fragments of a copy.
