We are currently in discussion about a new build area library/medium sized
town library. The constraints of the site mean that stock and public services
will need to be spread over more than one floor and this is always problematic,
both from of view of stock handling and stock utilisation. Typically reference
and local studies find themselves on upper floors, but we will have to split the
general lending collections between floors.
Does anyone out there have any useful comparative data/information from
your own experiences of running lending services over 2-3 floors they are
prepared to share? Data related to how specific areas of stock performs would
be interesting.
I'm also particularly interested to know how that stock is performing when
compared with similar stock elsewhere in your library system.
