I'm not an expert on searching, but I would mention that complementary
and alternative medicine (CAM) topics might be the way to go here. The
advantage of CAM is that the treatments do not require a lot of
knowledge that only a specialist would be able to provide. Also, CAM
tends to stir either positive or negative passions in people and that
helps keep their attention. Finally, at least in my audiences, there is
a strong skepticism about CAM. This causes the audience to be really
careful about the limitations of studies of CAM, and if you can get them
to be as careful in other areas then you have won the battle.
