We looked at this in two observational studies.
The first one in all samples with Vit D and PTH for one year showed that
Glomerular Filtration Rate Is a Major Determinant of the Relationship
between 25-Hydroxyvitamin D and Parathyroid Hormone

and also in different stages of CKD which showed that
Serum calcium and magnesium are major determinants of PTH in patients with mild
chronic kidney disease
