On a discussion list like this, opinions are of course welcome,
however generalised or inadequate they may be. But I might be more
convinced if such a remark were to be backed by some evidence.
I mention this because your view does not accord with my experience -
indeed, it is clear to me that many tutors go to great lengths to
explore the limits of briefs that they will inevitably get from
clients, and the creative blocks and ethical compromises among other
things that such briefs may promote. I have for many years run
workshops myself. Perhaps design education has moved on over the last
decade or two but you haven't noticed?
So - where is the evidence for your assertion? Where does this happen
with these 'modern design students'?
