well that was a good way to rally the wings!
Of course Ken has it right when he says that the option is not to break up the list, but only to start a new one that would run separately from PhD Design, but perhaps have some overlap in subscribers. That's what I was thinking about. Sorry, poor choice of words on my part. As mentioned, I think this list is valuable as it is and suited to its core PhD purpose.
It is, as Ken says, difficult to get a new list to take and in these times, other social media better serve purposes that some of these lists might have served in the past.
