Thanks to all on this one. Having said earlier that it's amazing what one
can find on the Web, I'd still underestimated it by typing in phrases like
'monete veneto' 'venetian money' rather than the actual latin. Problem
solved, thanks once again to the list1

To add to what Matej has said, sometimes Google helps simply by responding
to a search for the expression in question. E.g. "solidus grossorum", a
Google search for which produces the results shown here:
