Chair in Medical Statistics
Applications are invited for a Chair in Medical Statistics based in the Division of
Psychiatry, School of Community Health Sciences. This new chair has been
established to provide leadership in applied medical statistics to the CLAHRC
Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire (CLAHRC NDL) and Division of
Psychiatry.
NIHR Collaborations for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care
(CLAHRCs) were established to undertake high quality applied health research
and to support the translation of research evidence into practice in the NHS
(see: http://www.nihr.ac.uk/infrastructure_clahrcs.aspx).
The CLAHRC (NDL) is a collaborative partnership between the University of
Nottingham and NHS Trusts and local authorities in the East Midlands. Within
a multidisciplinary context of behavioural medicine and organisational learning,
CLAHRC NDL will develop capacity at organisational and individual levels in the
local healthcare economy.
Candidates must have extensive experience of research in applied medical
statistics which should include applied mental health research, evidenced by a
proven record of publications in high quality academic journals. A history of
successfully obtaining research funding is also essential. The successful
candidate will be expected to undertake a research leadership role along with
developing collaborations with other senior staff in the CLAHRC, the Institute
of Mental Health and the Division of Psychiatry. Candidates must also be
capable of participating in the intellectual life of the Faculty of Medicine and
the Institute of Mental Health, for instance through PhD supervision and work
with the Clinical Trials Unit at the University of Nottingham.
Salary will be within the Professorial range, minimum £55,259 per annum.
