Fulbright Distinguished Scholar Awards

If the above is of interest, and you are a PhD-holding UK citizen, the
Fulbright Commission invites you to apply for a Fulbright
Distinguished Scholar Award, 2010-11.
Distinguished Scholar scheme
The Fulbright Distinguished Scholar Awards enable academics in any
field to undertake lecturing, research or a combination of the two in
the US. Fulbright Distinguished Scholars will play an active role in
fostering mutual understanding between the peoples of the UK and the
US through educational exchange, the ultimate aim of the Fulbright
Programme.
Previous Fulbright Distinguished Scholar projects include:
Research undertaken at the National Institutes for Health,
investigating how immune responses to HIV might be modified in order
to develop long-term immunological strategies to stand alongside
antiviral therapy;
Lecturing throughout the US on aspects and research results relating
to British and European policy;
Research undertaken at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to
investigate injection and manipulation of spin in a 2-dimensional
electron gas;
Working with staff at the NSIDC and CIRES at the University of
Colorado, Boulder on a collaborative research project -- ‘The
Structure and Stability of Antarctic Peninsula Ice Shelves’;
Study undertaken at the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
department of Cornell on the vortices created in the wake of aircraft.
Benefits
A stipend of $3,750 per month (3 - 10 months financial support
available), accident and sickness coverage, a pre-departure cultural
orientation in London and US visa processing are all provided. Award
holders will join an impressive group of Fulbright alumni and be
invited to participate in their network: the BFSA (www.bfsa.org).
