I have posted photos of a fragment of the metaphysis of mammalian long bone. It is from a coastal site in New South Wales.
The bone is split longitudinally. It is from a juvenile individual, because the epiphysis is missing and unfused.

It was thought it might be human, but it is not. Nor is it macropod.
I wonder if it is from a seal, but have no comparative material.
One feature that struck me as odd, and therefore possibly characteristic, is the parallel furrowing on the cortical bone. Each of the furrows ends in a short 'cave'. A red arrow points to this feature.
