All I know about this fold is that we published two maps using this fold about ten years ago - BAS Minimap 1 and 2, published 1997. The printers just called it the flower fold. We did not repeat using this fold because the hand labour involved in tipping the folded map into the cover was prohibitively expensive. However, there was a vogue for it at the time for souvenir maps; I think we got a special offer on the production costs!

Can anyone help Geoff?
All I know about this particular way of folding a map comes from the
work published by David Rosen ([log in to unmask]).

Message: Sirs I am trying to trace the history of a map fold
often named as the Turkish Fold, Unfolding Flower, Falk Map fold among
others. It is a Pop Up type application mostly used with a map. The map
folds flat and pens up rather like a flower. Are you familiar with this
fold and are you able to shed any light on its history or origins
