1. Conference history and EI indexing
The 2nd International Conference on Advanced Design and Manufacturing
(ADM 2009) will take place in the Harbin China, 24-26 September 2009. The
conference will follow the success of its previous conference held China in
2006. The ADM2006 attracted about 600 abstracts and about 190 high quality
papers were finally selected for presentation at the conference, of which
about 35% were chosen for post-conference publication in refereed
international journals including International Journal of Production Research
(Taylor & Francis), International Journal of Manufacturing Technology and
Management (Inderscience), Lecture Notes of Computer Science (Springer),
Chinese of Mechanical Engineering (English edition) and International journal of
Design Engineering (Inderscience).
The forthcoming ADM2009 is anticipated to achieve a higher quality and
attract more participants. All papers included in ADM2009 conference
proceedings will be indexed in EI and the papers presented at the conference
will be offered the opportunity for submission to refereed international journals
(see Sections 4 and 5 below for further details).

2. Conference Scope
The conference topics will be in the design and manufacturing engineering
area, which will cover, but are not limited to:
- Product/industrial/engineering design
- Web/Internet technologies, Grid computing, Web-services, Mobile
networking, Wireless computing, collaborative working environment
- CAD/CAM/CAE
- Engineering/product management
- Concurrent engineering, agile manufacturing, rapid prototyping
- Material science and engineering materials
- Manufacturing technologies, production, control
- Experimental and theoretical analyses, finite/boundary element methods,
optimisation
- Soft computing, artificial intelligence, evolutionary computing, agent
computing
- Computer simulation, multimedia, virtual reality
- Sustainable technology, environment friendly design and manufacture,
renewable energy
- Engineering education
- Other related areas

3. Abstracts and Conference Papers
Potential authors are invited to submit abstracts of about 300 words to
[log in to unmask]
The authors of accepted abstracts are entitled to submit full papers, which
will be peer-reviewed, and the corresponding authors will be asked to make
any required changes and submit the final version of the papers. Based on
quality of the final paper submitted, a decision will then be made whether the
paper is accepted or not. The papers should not have been previously
published or be in a review process for publication elsewhere.

4. Conference Proceedings and post-conference journal publication
The conference proceedings will be published in the periodical "Key Engineering
Materials" (available in full text on the web via www.scientific.net one of the
leading and largest online databases in its field), with a separate book (with
ISBN), CD (with ISBN) and online edition for the conference participants. The
periodical is indexed by EI. Papers will not be included in the Proceedings
unless conference fees have been paid.
Papers presented at the conference will be offered opportunities for
submission to refereed international journals, and a workshop will be held
during the conference to provide information how to enhance the quality of
the papers to be submitted.

5. About Harbin
Harbin is the capital city of Heilongjiang Province, located in the north-eastern
region of China. Its mixture of western and Chinese culture, and combination
of modern and historical features have been attracting a great number of
tourists. The Songhua River passes through the city, and, along the river
bank, there are beautiful parks, including the well-known Sun Island Park.
There are many attractions in and around the city, for example, the largest
Confucian Temple in the north-eastern region of China is just ‘next-door’ to
Harbin Engineering University where the conference is to be hosted. The tiger
park in Sun Island is the biggest Siberia tiger feeding and breeding basis in the
world. The Museum of Jin Empire ruins is about 10 miles away from the city
centre, introducing the origin and history of Jin Dynasty. Wudalianchi Volcano
Geological Park (www.volcano.si.edu/world/volcano.cfm?vnum=1005-3-) and
Jingbo Lake (www.chinaetravel.com/attraction/att12c.html) are famous scenic
areas near Harbin.
Social programmes and tours are to be arranged.
