In one way or another spammers get hold of webmail usernames and
associated passwords and use those legitimate accounts to send their
spams to everyone in the owners' address books, in this case including
the medieval religion. Ms. Clark's account has been hacked, in other
words, and she should change her password (and check her vacation
message, since one person I know of had the spam inserted there while
she was away from e-mail).
