UKCRC Centre of Excellence in Public Health Research
PhD Studentships 2009
We invite applications for PhD studentships in public health research
within the newly established Centre for Diet and Activity Research
(CEDAR), a UKCRC funded Centre of Excellence in Public Health Research.
The Centre is a collaboration between MRC units in Cambridge and the
Universities of Cambridge and East Anglia and is hosted by the Institute
of Public Health in Cambridge.
We particularly seek candidates interested in the social and
environmental determinants of physical activity and dietary behaviour
and in population-based, interdisciplinary intervention research.
Students will be registered at the University of Cambridge or the
University of East Anglia depending on their interests. Both three- and
four-year studentships are available to commence in October 2009. The
three-year studentships are for those who already have a Masters degree
in an appropriate scientific discipline. The four-year studentships are
for those without an appropriate Masters degree who wish to undertake
the MPhil in Epidemiology or Public Health in Cambridge, or the MRes in
Environmental Social Science in Norwich, during the first year of their
studentship. The studentships within this multidisciplinary
collaboration provide diverse training opportunities for all aspects of
research and encourage the development of transferable academic and
generic skills.
The academic requirement for entry is a first or upper second class
degree or equivalent. The studentships include college and university
fees and a stipend. Full funding is available to UK nationals and UK
residents. Partial funding is available to applicants from the European
Economic Area (EEA).
