Hi,
I have been interested to read the messages about the fines API as it is something that we have been looking to implement this year. We were hoping that the fines API and the 3M self payment would help during unserviced hours if a part time student came in and needed to pay outstanding fines before they could borrow, but it sounds like this will not be possible. Does anyone know whether this is as a result of Innovative not being fully SIP2 compliant?
Regards,
Emma

Subject: Re: Self issue blocks and fines API
Hi Lise,
We have exactly the same. My understanding is that the patron record
block is checked before anything else. If a block is true, for any
reason, then the record is blocked from self-service.
We are reconciled to this because it encourages patrons to keep their
fines below £10. However, we haven't gone 24 hour yet so our desk is
always staffed.
Best Regards,
Joan.

Hello
We're in the final stages (hopefully) of implementing fines payment
API but have a situation where the £10 fines owed block applied to
loans is also being applied to the payments interface with the result
that a student who is blocked from borrowing can't pay off any of
their fines to enable themselves to borrow. Not a good situation
during unstaffed hours.
Has anyone else using API had a similar issue?
Thanks
Lise
