medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear Jennifer,
Cecilia's suggestions are (as one would expect) spot on. A short cut on papal canonizations is provided by the list here (whose accuracy may depend on one's view of some disputed instances):
http://newsaints.faithweb.com/Premodern_Canonizations.htm
An obvious caution with respect to canonizations: not everyone who receives a Vita is canonized within a century or so of its writing. Some examples of subjects of late twelfth- or thirteenth-century Vitae who either have yet to be papally canonized or else have been so canonized only in modern times: William of Montevergine (William of Vercelli), John of Pulsano (John of Matera), Lanfranc of Pavia, Bona of Pisa.
Best,
John Dillon
