Did I read this correctly? Are we really arguing that the cost of running
democratic elections at Branch and Group level in our organisation is too
expensive? This really is something that needs to be looked at. I know
that all voluntary organisations run on the enthusiasm and energy fo their
volunteers, but not being able to afford elections mean that we create
self-perpetuating cliques.
As someone who spent decades campaigning for democracy in South Africa, I
find this alarming to say the least. Perhaps the Trustees,when elected,
can address this matter urgently.
