Okay let's clarify what' going on here (after a coupe of glasses of red and a nice curry) and get off Ken's back. I got sent a msg from Bentham to be on the editorial board of a journal on information science - I've written virtually nothing in relation to this field - except for being a reviewer for a special collection of MIS Quarterly on action research (cos I've written about this in education) . Now, I am on the ed board of a spanish based applied linguistics journal and review or have reviewed for a bunch of established journals in a range of fields, e.g. Ethnography in Education, Journal of Curriculum Studies, Australian Review of Applied Linguistics, Artifact ... bonfide established journals in education etc. Among other things the RAE type exercise here is a very real concern for those of us interested in design as an academic field and who can not wait for HE powerbrokers to get beyond classifying design as some sort of creative art - so a real practical concern. So for a number of reasons we all need to have some criteria about what we want to support and invest our time in. I'm not going to join Bentham etc., cos' I;d rather have a shot at some journals I do respect and journalitis is an endemic problem already in design and other disciplines. I'll support open access and local material on moral grounds and so occasionally publish into australasian stuff but design education and the field needs to get real about what it wants to be. This year and next year I'm publishing into: Design Issues, Design Studies, Artifact, Research in Post-Compulsory Education, Innovations in Education and Teaching International, Australasian Journal in Engineering Education, and some others there'r enough avenues out there for us to make the effort to publish into ...
