Hi all,

just a quick note regarding Susan's comment Facebook and other applications - one suggestion for a more 'professional one' would be Linkedin (http://www.linkedin.com/) which does also have the opportunity to create groups.

Personally I'm a member of Linkedin, but (at least this far) have been seldomly using it - I'll be quite happy to join the facebook group as well if this is what the PGR group will continue using

Thanks,
emma

 Hi Yemisi,

Firstly - welcome! The work you (and your predecessors) do for us is greatly
appreciated.

With regards to Gerard's comments - I understand how he feels about
Facebook, when he says 'Let's use a social utility that isnt commercially
owned, and doesnt sell nor ask for personal data of its users.'

For me, Facebook is problematic because it is hard to separate the
professional from the personal - it feels invasive.

In my opinion, we need a dedicated social networking system that is
tailor-made for the international research community - across all the
disciplines. Personally, I would have no problem with it providing resource
information through 'integrated advertising'.

Does such a thing currently exist? If not, I would be happy to work with
others to develop it. Any thoughts?

Regards,

Susan
