Based in Bristol The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) distributes over £7 billion each year to universities and colleges in England, with the aim of promoting high quality, cost-effective teaching and research. The Analytical Services Group (ASG) provides data processing and analytical services to HEFCE, employing a specialist team with backgrounds in quantitative analysis, operational research, statistics, mathematics and information technology. There are currently two vacancies in ASG:
Analyst Job 1 -
Quantitative Analysis for Policy £21,633- £26,177 (pay award pending) The Quantitative Analysis for Policy team within ASG focuses on supporting policy development. They tackle a range of questions, such as: How is participation in higher education changing? Are there biases in the admissions process? And is the academic labour force approaching a 'demographic cliff'? Deploying a combination of data processing and statistical analysis, you'll help the HEFCE to add to its knowledge and understanding of UK higher education.
Analyst Job 2 -
Data & Management Information £21,633- £26,177 (pay award pending) The Data & Management Information team within ASG produce analyses at institutional, regional and national levels for management and audit purposes. In this role, you'll develop the data and information systems needed to underpin HEFCE's policies.
In both positions, as well as offering advice in response to specific questions, you'll be expected to write reports, provide annexes to commissioned reports and give presentations to the HE community, government and the public at large.
