Rosemary and Marjorie, thank you both for the
opportunity to see these lovely shots of somewhere I'm
never likely to get to. I love the austere proportions
of the buildings, esp the interior shot of Sta Maria
Assunta.
I couldn't possibly comment on Rosemary's
proportions, though they strike me as rather better
balanced than mine (snapshots are never flattering,
it's one of the rules) but I do wonder about one of
the attributions. The gentleman behind glass whom you
identify as St Theophile appears to be baring his
thigh and to be accompanied by a dog (or similar sized
creature), both attributes of St Roch. Does St
Theophile have a similar legend to St Roch?
And in photograph 5, which image is the Lamb
Triumphant? I can't work it out, my iconography being
a bit rudimentary.
