Hello Maureen,
We have been trying to implement LDAp for a couple of years now,
and the problems we have not overcome are to do with refusal to
start up a session on the LDAP server at c40% of attempts, and also
to do with cat and elec resources users using a different url
(webcat.warwic.ac.uk and pugwash.lib.warwick.ac.uk resepectively.
S we're still struggling..
However, the problem that you are having ought to be solvable,
I think by setting the LDAP.properties (A>A>S>V>E>) such that rthe
III_TAG (returned by the LDAP server from 'KEY_ATTRIBUTE= whatever the
LDAP server calls your held barcode in each record' is always your
barcode (b)
(in our case we use instead Uinversity ID (u) as our barcodes have a
suffix which increments by 1 for each new card issue, appended to
the univ. id). Users would log on to the LDAP server with their
network login and password whether that is a name (richardm) or a
number (90000123), so the pverifyx screens would have to ask for this
(as I imagine they currently do for students).
I hope this helps, and if anyone can help with advice on
circumstances
causing bad session start (illegal seek errors in the ldap.log file),
or the multiple url problem (I am currently trying to exploit the
SSL_PORT syntax
in wwwoptions), I would be absolutely delighted!

Subject: LDAP for staff
Are there any sites which have implemented LDAP for both staff and
students? We have used LDAP for three years for our students - their
network login e.g. 20001234 is their library barcode but a staff member
has a network login of e.g. richardm and their library barcode is
90000123. is there any way around this?
Many thanks
Maureen
