Outline proposals for HTA Clinical Trials
In an exciting period of expansion for the National Institute
for Health Research Health Technology Assessment (NIHR HTA)
programme we are inviting research proposals for the latest
pragmatic clinical trials funding round. Researchers are
invited to submit outline proposals for primary research
(which generate new data) to assess the effectiveness and
cost-effectiveness of health technologies in, or likely to
be in, NHS practice.
We intend to consider applications four times a year from 2009
onwards and there will be cut-off deadlines for proposals to
reach our offices for the assessment process.
Outline proposals for primary research are invited for initial
consideration of importance to the NHS by the HTA programme's
Clinical Trials Group in December 2008. Applications in the
field of mental health would be particularly welcome for our
next deadline, in areas not already well covered by our
portfolio. Proposals must reach the NCCHTA offices before
1pm on Tuesday 21st October 2008 to be considered in December
and then on to the April 2009 Clinical Trials Board for
shortlisting in the first instance. Applicants short-listed by
the Clinical Trials Board in April will be invited to submit
full proposals to the Clinical Trials Board in October 2009.
The outline proposal application form, commissioning brief and
guidance notes are available on the HTA programme website at
www.hta.ac.uk/funding/clinicaltrials/?src=ct07
