Ebooks: book to the future http://www.telegraph.co.uk/connected/main.jhtml?xml=/connected/2008/05/22/dlbook122.xml The iLiad moment? http://www.thebookseller.com/blogs/59457-the-iliad-moment.html New ebook launched http://www.thebookseller.com/news/59294-new-ebook-launched.html Design revamp for '$100 laptop' http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7411904.stm Has the iPod moment just arrived? http://www.thebookseller.com/blogs/59555-has-the-ipod-moment-just-arrived.html Does anybody else have a vision of the library staff of the future discharging a book by deleting a copy from an e-book reader? An academic librarian who recently bought some e-book readers said to me that (for textbooks) they weren't of high enough resolution for diagrams and also they needed to be in colour. To hazard a guess myself I think these limitations of the current technology will be gone by 2010. (Maybe libraries should develop a standard that e-book readers could incorporate in order to support libraries purchasing them?) Gareth Osler Editor and admin., http://libraryweb.info
