Brenda,
It is rather splendid. The question is: are there any 12th-century pieces of glass in it (I have
no idea why the site mentions the 15th century!). It would have to be examined in person to
tell, really. There were some very good copies of 12th-century panels made in the late 19th
century. We have several in Canadian collections which were bought as medieval works, in
fact. Not all of them, by any means, were done as "fakes" either. Considerable effort was
put into recovering the "secrets" of medieval stained glass in the 19th century, and glaziers
felt it almost a challenge to create new works in a "correct" medieval manner. The results,
though, however impressive, were until recently something of a nightmare for museums and
collectors. Looking through the other material on offer at that same sale, there look to be a
few other problematic works, as well.
Cheers,
Jim Bugslag
