Hi Chris and Filippo,

There is some interesting work along these lines going on at NC State
University.
Meredith Davis, Director of Graduate Programs in Graphic Design and Director
of the interdisciplinary PhD in Design at the College of Design, was
concerned about the difficulty design graduate students, professionals, and
academics, studying within a relatively new discipline, can experience when
attempting to locate relevant research.
To address this problem, she worked with her students to develop a database
on design research that would also employ a system of expert curators who
locate relevant research and make it available on the site. The proposal is
currently being reviewed.
The particulars of that work can be found in the special issue of Artifact
that I mentioned (several times as you'll recall) last week.
Davis, M., Peterson, M., Cunningham, K., & Steven, H. (2007). Making Sense
of Design Research: The Search for a Database. Artifact, 1(3), 142-148.
Best,
Susan
