In my one stint at teaching in a grad school (that will remain nameless)
I was named director of the library, I think because I was the only
faculty member who had a borrower's card at the local public library.
Thus I may be disqualified already.

I use the Dewey Decimal System. The easy way to do this is to buy a
copy of SEARS LIST OF SUBJECT HEADINGS and use it precisely the wrong
way. Unless you are working on the cutting edge of modern science, an
older edition will contain all you need and can be bought in Canada for
$15 or less. Do follow the guide on how to mark up the pages so you
know what number you've chosen. It's unorthodox, and my charming wife
with the master's degree in library science shudders when she sees me
sorting stuff this way, but it works for me.
If any of this interests you, write me off-list for more detail.
Regards,
Frank
