medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear All,
Forwarded herewith is an announcement by Dorothea Weber of the Kirchenväterkommission of the Austrian Academy of Sciences of her and colleagues' discovery, in a later twelfth-century manuscript said to be probably of English origin, of four "new" (i.e. unknown to modern scholarship) sermons by St. Augustine as well as of complete versions of two others hitherto known to modern scholarship only in abbreviated or otherwise incomplete form. One of the latter is A.'s sermon on Sts. Perpetua and Felicity. The manuscript containing these texts is Erfurt, Bibliotheca Amploniana, Dep. Erf. CA. 12° 11, a collection of over seventy-five late antique and medieval sermons by divers hands.
Best,
John Dillon
