medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I'm aware of the history of belief in (the power of) relics, even up to this
modern day and age. I know what believing in something can do to man. I have
learned about what the church and other institutions, like governments, have
done to make sure that people believed or started believing in (the power
of) relics. Up to the point that they made fake relics or robbed others of
supposedly real relics. To me that's part of history and a religio-cultural
phenomenon. It can be studied and afaik has. In fact it's probably because
some of the members actually study it that this list exists. That's OK with
me.
I just don't see the good in discussing what DC of HC or even the BBC do
with fake relics, of which they enlarge the importance out of all proportion
just to sell these abominable video-products all over the world. I know that
the public wants to be deceived, but should this list encourage this?
