Human Kinetics and online journals
This is a message for institutional subscribers to Human Kinetics
journals. Following a misunderstanding with a library in the UK, we felt
that this notice might be useful.
For many years librarians have purchased online journals from Human
Kinetics. But when they cease to pay for the online journals, their access
to the servers which holds the data also severs. We have always
encouraged librarians to purchase back-up print copies. In order
to 'force' the issue, in 2008, Human Kinetics prevented institutions from
purchasing online only. Online Only ceased to be an option for
institutional subscribers. Instead Human Kinetics offered Print, and
Print & Online at the same price.
If your institution has ordered Online Only from your Subs Agent, your
Subs Agent will not have fulfilled this order for Human Kinetics. If you
have set a default for your Subs Agent, i.e. Print Only, then your Subs
Agent is likely to have ordered that for you instead. If this is the case,
this can be easily rectified by emailing [log in to unmask] who will
ensure your online access is not terminated.
Many thanks for your time in this matter, and apologise for any confusion
caused.
Sara Cooper,
Human Kinetics.
