Dear all
As part of an collaborative project between industry and academia, the
Virtual Seismic Atlas is generating a freely-available set of images of
seismic data and their geological interpretation. As part of the on-going
roll-out, weıre making it available, ahead of the main launch, to the
Geotectonics community. As part of this process, today weıre running our
second test-drive. To access the VSA visit:
www.seismicatlas.org
(or Google Virtual Seismic Atlas)
The site will be open for the next 24 hours or so. Weıre using this window
to test the applicationıs robustness to traffic. So please try it out! After
the test period weıll appraise and rectify and glitches in the application,
which may take it off-line.
Although itıs very early days for the VSA we hope that you will find it a
useful resource. Weıve got a few samples of classic structures in ³picture
and work-book² format and youıll be able to find analogues, contrast
different interpretations and download images (subject to agreeing to honour
the terms and conditions of the site essentially to respect the authorship
of each project). Iıd be happy to receive any comments (direct please, donıt
hit reply to the list!). Although we hope you find the ³search²
functionality reasonably intuitive, we will be preparing a set of FAQs for
the "help" area. Suggestions in this regard once youıve had a play would be
welcome.
As we approach official launch Iıll update the community on further access
availability. Thank you for trying out the VSA!
Best wishes
Rob
