Hi Molly,
Have you given any thought to Exeter University in SW England? My experience
there has been outstanding and they offer the possibility of doing what you
are suggesting, along with having a very strong program in Asian cinema.
Their website is: www.ex.ac.uk
Good luck,
Gregg Redner

Subject: Graduate School Inquiry
I have been researching Master programs in film theory for a couple months
and I was wondering if anyone could make some suggestions. I am interested
in a program that has a strong film theory base that also teaches film
making. I feel without the knowledge of how to make a film; film theories
are incomplete. Currently, my main focus of research is cognition and film,
cultural influences on film, and how cultures are portrayed in film.
However, my interests extend to Japanese film, film aesthetics, and the
business of film. I have looked at these following programs:
University of California at Berkeley
University of Iowa
University of Edinburgh
NYU
Trinity College in Dublin
University of Chicago
Since this is my career choice, I am willing to live outside of the United
States in order to find a school that fits my needs of study and my
personality.
