Thank you to the people who replied to my original post (11.02.08)
Two people got in touch and suggested that we set up a group on Facebook.
This is something that we’re looking into here at Stockport, although
Facebook is not currently available from staff machines.
And that was it! No – one else got in touch with ideas about Enquire.
Personally, I feel that Enquire is a good service, but represents a missed
opportunity.I feel that there should have been a high-profile national
campaign to promote Enquire, which would have highlighted libraries too.
I think that libraries could have perhaps been branded ‘Enquire Centres’
and we could have featured the orange and white question mark with
an ‘Enquire’ strapline throughout UK libraries.
I really feel that if the Enquire service is to flourish, a high-profile
national marketing campaign needs to take place and soon. Otherwise I'm
afraid that many authorities may decide that it's not worth re-newing their
subscription when the invoice arrives next time.
