Of course this is right except...
In the 2001 UK Research Assessment Exercise the Art & Design review
panel examined approx 800 journal articles, most of them in Design.
However these were spread over 500 journals and the mix of journals was
extremely eclectic. The reasons seem to be a combination of not many
design journals and research which engages with many context beyond
designing.
This means that most of these journal articles will not be seen by the
peer group of design researchers.
As I write this I begin to wonder if the only artefact that seems to be
relevant to the whole spectrum of our peers is the message posted to the
PhD-Design discussion list. I'm not sure that bodes well :o)
