Very good point John. For example, if you put a first draft pre-print on
the IR and have metadata that has to do with the published version (like
contributor.editor [for the editor(s) of the journal the post-print got
published in]) it is not accurate.

How do IR admin on this list deal with the situation where someone has
entered information about their publication indicating it as published
with all the bib details and then they upload an early draft version? If
this is a true repository then the metadata should describe the item
deposited not the item published.
Has anyone added an extra drop down list to the Upload page so
