Thanks for raising this, Jonathan. I commend you!
As the ACB National Meetings Secretary I am concerned
by a number of issues relating to regional scientific
meetings:
1. they may clash with other meetings (regional,
national, exams etc).
2. there is no co-ordination across the regions - a
while ago we had meetings in 2 regions within a couple
of weeks, with several speakers giving similar
lectures.
3. CPD - lack of returns to the ACB Office (Meetings
Secretaries will be aware of the recent problems).
I am relatively new in post, but looking at what can
be done. If nothing else, please check against the
calendar in the ACB Handbook/on the website.
My ideal would be for all regions to set dates/topics
a year in advance for inclusion in the calendar, but I
appreciate that this is very difficult.
Regards
Ian
