Dear colleagues,
Just a short e-mail to inform you of three
important news regarding the "International
Meeting of Young Researchers in Structural
Geology and Tectonics" (YORSGET), to be held on
1-3 July 2008 in Oviedo (Asturias, Spain):
1- It is our pleasure to inform you that
TECTONOPHYSICS have expressed their interest in
publishing a special volume with one or two of
the major topics of the YORSGET meeting. All
manuscripts would be subject to a high standard
of peer review organized by a guest editor and
overseen by one of the journal editors. However,
since the Organizing Committee had already a
commitment with the journal "Trabajos de
Geologia" to publish the extended abstracts of
the meeting, we will ask the participants to
submit an extended abstract (instead of a simple
abstract) at the time of full registration. Later
on, a call for papers for the special volume of
TECTONOPHYSICS will be properly announced.
2- We have extended the deadline for
pre-registration to 31 January. Please, note that
pre-registration is mandatory before
full-registration and payment.
3- Finally, we would like to remind you that the
YORSGET meeting also includes a pre-conference
field trip across the Variscan Orogen in NW
Iberian Peninsula on 28-30 June, 2008, with a
limited number of 50 participants. Seat will be
assigned following the order of registration.
Don't pass this opportunity to visit one of the
best exposed sections of the Variscan Orogen in
Europe, covering a wide range of structures and
deformation regimes from the external foreland
fold-and-thrust belt to the hinterland zone!
Please, note that registration the meeting will
be mandatory to participate in the field trip.
We hope to see you next year in the YORSGET meeting!

Very best wishes and merry Christmas for all the Geotectonics folks!
